whaa?

Saw the Flying Karamazov Brothers last night with [livejournal.com profile] gusmacroy. It was all full of puns and science nerd jokes. Would have been the perfect place to take a 10-12 year old who'd jsut gotten straight A's or something.

My favorite one liner? They were making fun of the Laws of Thermodynamics:

For every activist there is an equal and opposite reactionary.

Too priceless. I want to plaster that everywhere. Once upon a time in my life, I might have.

Got a call from a recruiter, it's just a short term contract, but he called back and asked for my SSN so we'll see if that goes anywhere. If there's a credit check involved, I'm a dead man. Funny, I'd rather have a drug test than a credit check.

Off to do my daily search for the j-o-b.

please tell me i misunderstood-future possible employers check your credit rating no no no -tell me im wrong???

You did not misunderstand. Future employers can, and some do run credit checks, and if your credit rating is not to their liking, they can (and do) choose not to hire you. They can also requir eyou to pass a full physical with *their* doctor. . . any number of ridiculous invasions of privacy. They also get around anti-discrimination laws with a new phrase called "Team Fit". . . in other words you have to fit in with the team we already have. . . i.e no fags, whatever.

Land of the Free? Uhh. . .no.

Once my brother and his wife get settled, we'll rethink the Australia thing.

are they settling in Australia? Come back! We've left the light on and the door is off the latch-come right on in!

i was just denied a job based on a credit dispute from 1996.. one that (i feel) was placed on my credit erroneously.. it was removed in 1997.. popped back up again about 3 mos ago.. i'm unemployed and didn't get a $36k/yr job as a result.. trust me.. it's real.

I am speechless with horror
