OMG

Blake has two loose teeth! The two bottom middle teeth (central incisors?) are loose. I thought this was a bit early, but after some googling, apparently not.

Pictures of the toothless bug forthcoming, well as soon as the teeth move from loose to gone.

Dental floss and a door knob, Richard?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, he had all 20 of his baby teeth by 18 months.

Still, it was a bit of a surprise. Time to write a note to the teacher so he knows.

Hey Matt

In my experiences with losing teeth I can't honestly remember but don't dispare call his pediatrition. Good luck and let me know what happens.

Give him an apple, or maybe a plum. Something he has to bite into. My now seven year old rather abruptly lost the four teeth in front, (two top, two bottom) when she was five and then didn't lose another tooth for 8 months. One she managed to wiggle out chewing on a tootsie roll. It was a little nerve-wracking at first; one was so loose I was afraid to let her go to sleep until it came out, I was afraid she would swallow it.

I love hearing from other parents!

Thanks, I'll try the apple.

the dental floss and door knob technique did not work on my son! we had several good laughs trying, though. (my) B's loose teeth don't typically fall out until a friend, or a ball, knocks them out. if you're into the Tooth Fairy...here's a tip: make sure you have a couple of dollars (or whatever the Fairy brings to your house)handy, so you don't get caught unprepared! also, popsicles are a nice treat for sore gums.

Only if you want to pay for years in therapy later.

Let the dang thing fall out on its own, kids usually wiggle them to death. The apple is a good idea, up if you want to up the ante....a caramel apple, just brush after. He is losing them slightly early, but well within the huge variation of tooth loss that humans have. The tooth fairy is a good idea, but hopefully Blake won't decide to pull them all out just for the cash. The next to go will probably be the ones next to these teeth, then the upper centrals. Parents always hate that toothless look around age 5-7. Don't make a big deal
out of it and it won't become one.

ah, the door knob technique

Great door knob story: So my mom ties the floss to me, then the knob, slams the door and... it slips off my tooth. This happens several times until she finally gets fed up and ties it really, super snug. She gives the door a good slam and WHEEEE! I go right along with it! I'll admit, my having CP (and therefor poor balance) probably had something to do with the outcome, but you can bet I won't be tying any of my future kids to door knobs. Unless they're in a wheelchair, in which case I'll remember to set their brakes!
Anyway, thought you'd enjoy the laugh.
