will someone please buy me this:

http://www.craigslist.org/pen/car/76270318.html

It's right out of my childhood. If it were green, it would be the car my parents had when I was a kid.

If I had $700, I'd at least look at it.

OMG!

My mom's first car was my aunt's handmedown Galaxy 500 Sedan - BLACK... I loved that damn car and wish I had it now!

Shit - I still remember the license plate number...! TMF 944

No wonder I can't remember important stuff!

It's the family truckster!

(Like I have any room to make light of one's car preferences, given what I ramble around in?)

Cheers,
Gwen Smith

A friends mom had one just like that except it had the faux wood side panelling. And I couldn't tell from the ad, but hers had the third row seat that faced backward. Very cool when we were kids.

OH! We had one of those in a weird yellowish beige color. We called it the BananaBoat. hehe. *wistfully remembers vinyl seats and no seatbelt laws* I loved sliding from side to side when my mom turned corners.

Ours was green. We called it the pickle wagon.

Ahh, childhood in the 70s - So full of parental innuendo that I didn't get until the 80s.

I think it's time to call Mr. O.

Although, no airbags and such.

The other drawback, of course, is that you would be spending even more on gas because of 70s mileage.

If you had $700, you would be able to fill the gas tank on that monstrosity a smidge over 7 times, which would cover an approximate distance of 1400 miles.
I am not trying to be an asshole here (that, perhaps, comes naturally?). I just think that owning this car as a primary mode of transportation is a tad silly.
I have many fond memories of the 1972 Plymouth Gran Fury III, nine passenger mega-mobile my parents had when I was wee. However, I relish the frugality of my little red Echo that I spend $22 on every 330 miles.
Keep this car on your wishlist and buy it when you are making loads of money from the multiple degrees you are so diligently earning now.

Good point.

Maybe I should get a diesel. Relatively good mileage and no smog necessary.
